Carrington Power Station

The Carrington Power Station development, in Carrington near Manchester, was a huge £800m project that created the UK’s most efficient thermal plant.

The 884MW gas fired power station is also one the UK’s most flexible plant with the ability to allow renewables such as wind and solar onto its system at any given time.

The project was challenging for FK in that there were different levels of Health and Safety and regulations to adhere to whilst being position in close proximity to large residential areas.

The successful completion of the project has created the first large scale gas fired power plant to come online in Great Britain since 2013 and can power more than one million homes and businesses in the Greater Manchester area.
