Francis Keenan Senior
Chairman

Francis Keenan Senior has been involved in construction for all of his adult life, having come from a roofing family, he learnt his trade on the job from an early age.

He initially set up a cladding business and at the age of 25 he established Francis Keenan Roofing Services (FKRS) in Manchester. What started off as a modest family business grew steadily over the next 35 years to become the FK Group, a full building envelope solutions business with a turnover of £70m.

Francis moved into the role of chairman in 2008 as his son, Francis Keenan Junior, took over the helm as managing director.

Francis has always had a passion for the construction industry, having graduated from the University of Leeds with a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying.

He went onto work for a main contractor for one year as a postgraduate, specialising within the leisure and hospitality sectors. When an exciting, high profile opportunity arose, Francis moved to Australia for two years to work on the Olympic Park project for the Sydney 2000 Games as a Professional Quantity Surveyor. Upon returning to the UK in 2001, Francis took up a position as a quantity surveyor in the family owned business, FK Construction.

Over the last 15 years he has worked in various roles including commercial director, taking over as managing director of FK Group in 2007 and becoming chief executive officer in 2015.

In the last eight years he has grown the business significantly, leading its diversification into maintenance and building envelope solutions, improving the operation of the Group structure and also overseeing its international expansion with the establishment of a UAE operation.


Paul Bentley
Managing Director

Paul began his career in construction in 1988 and studied part time whilst working to gain Chartered Institute of Building status. During his early career, he established an interest in education, retail and fit out working for a number of regional contractors. In 1991 he joined MultiBuild, as a Project Manager and over the next nine years developed his exposure to a wide variety of sectors and with it his experience with the commercial team.

In 2000, Paul joined Jarvis Construction as its commercial manager, focusing on education, particularly PFI and student accommodation. He decided to re-join MultiBuild just less than three years later, taking the position of commercial manager. This role proved to be a useful stepping-stone as he moved to Ocon Construction in 2004, again as a commercial manager.

Paul joined FK Construction in 2010 as its commercial director. Having been instrumental in driving forward the company’s growth over the past five years, he has recently become joint managing director of FK Group.


Tony Cornwell
Director

Tony started out as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor at Fitzpatrick Contractors Ltd in 1994 and during the following eight years he gained valuable experience as a site based quantity surveyor on a variety of projects across multiple sectors.

Then in 2001 Tony joined McLaren Construction Ltd as a quantity surveyor and in late 2005 he decided to re-join Fitzpatrick Contractors Ltd to fill the post of managing surveyor, which led him to being promoted to regional commercial manager.

With a BSc Hons in Quantity Surveying, Tony joined the FK Group to hold the dual role of managing director for Envocare Maintenance and director in the South East for FK Construction and Projects. In 2015, Tony relocated to Dubai to head up FK group’s UAE operation.


Steve Hall
Managing Director

Steve is a time served construction professional with 32 years of valuable industry experience. His career in construction started fresh from school when he began an apprenticeship as a trainee draughtsman at ER Dyer Limited.

Having learnt the technical trade through working on the job for six years and completing a Higher National Diploma in Building and Engineering, Steve joined FK in 1987 as a draughtsman. With both drawing office and site experience, Steve’s strengths lay in site operations. He progressed from this role into the contracts department of the business and within two years was responsible for running the construction department.

In 1990 he was promoted to a director role. Following a tenure as construction director, Steve became joint managing director of FK Group in 2015.


Phil Norris
Financial Director

Phil Norris joined FK Group in 2017 from William Hare Group, the UK’s leading independent steel fabrication company.

Phil spent over a decade at William Hare Group with the last five years in the role of Group Finance Director where he was responsible for its UK, Middle East and Indian operations.

A qualified accountant, Phil has held various roles in finance for over 23 years. In his role at FK he is responsible for ensuring the Group has a best in-class finance function to allow the business to focus on maintaining and developing our excellent reputation for delivering the best results for our clients.
