FK Group has welcomed the newest students to its apprenticeship scheme. The newest recruits represent the third intake to the successful programme which has so far provided construction training to ten current or former apprentices.
Norman Gregory and Omar Awad joined the group in August 2017 as site apprentices as part of a third party scheme but the site management team were so impressed with the pair’s hard work and enthusiasm they were handed permanent contracts.
After spending the first few months of their apprenticeship working on site at Laing O’Rourke’s Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre at Manchester University, Norman and Omar will now take up site roles at two of FK Group’s newest projects across the country. They will continue to gain experience across different projects and roles within FK’ business while undertaking study for their Construction Contracting Operations level three qualification.
FK Group’s HR manager Laura Keenan said: “We’re delighted to welcome Norman and Omar to the team on a permanent basis. Since joining the team on GEIC their hard work and dedication has impressed both our own team and the client’s site team.
“The group is committed to nurturing new talent in the construction industry and we look forward to seeing Norman and Omar continue in their careers with FK Group.”
FK Group’s Apprentice Academy was launched in 2015 in conjunction with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). The first two intakes of apprentices are already well established in their FK Group roles across the business.
