Although every project we undertake is treated with the same attentiveness, there’s an even greater sense of responsibility when we’re dealing with healthcare establishments.
There are particular challenges to be overcome, as the projects usually fall within the confines of existing hospital facilities. We need to work within tight site footprints and limited lay down areas for materials, devising bespoke delivery strategies to co-ordinate trades and maximise efficiency, without disrupting the day-to-day operation of the hospital, as well as bespoke packaging strategies, to reduce waste generation on site. Other considerations include how the work impacts other structures, and whether temporary weathering is required to avoid damage.
At Hope Hospital, the membrane system was laid onto concrete, and included a full tapered insulation scheme, applied to a double curved roof layout. For extra resilience, all feature fascias and soffits were polyester powder coated.
